Down from Island in the Sky in Canyonlands National Park and to the southeast a couple of miles before the offroad journey through Shafer Canyon reaches the Colorado River, my son and I had a backcountry camping overnight. We were on the 11th day of our 44-day natural history road trip through the USA and Canada.
